Zachary Cale, Mighty Moon & Ethan Schmid
NATCH 5
In April, this year, Mr. Cale was invited in the Black Dirt Studio to record a session with Dream Pop Duo Mighty Moon and his pal Ethan Schmid (drummer of his band).
The result is very mixed and at the same time exciting.
Love in Vain and Memories Loss are typical Cale songs (even if the first one is a coverversion/adaption by Robert Johnson). Worlds Away is a dreamy folk piece with femal vocals, banjo sparkles and finally Trees Don't Sleep resembles a drive into the sunset, with it's distorted tremolo-guitar, a strange echoed guitar melodie line and pacing rhythm section. I think it's born out of a jam-session.
Zachary Cale - Louisiana Man currently residing in NY. While you were sleeping, Mr. Cale recorded and released a better lp than most folks will in a lifetime.
Mighty Moon - NY via NJ and HI. Leah and Jay write dark lullabies and lite cult theme songs when not decking out your eyes and limbs.
The great FreeMusicArchive host the files, so go there and grab them, enjoy and share...
Read about that at Zachary's Blog and keep in mind - he will release 2 new things this year - a 7" (Everlasting Love on Dull Knife) and another EP on the same label.
So keep your eyes peeled!
